Right then, it’s time to get into the festive spirit with our first Christmas Date Night!
Enjoy our review of Emilia Clarke and Henry Golding's rom-com Last Christmas (2019), but also come for the chat about our favourite xmas movies, our attempts to list every George Michael song, and a humdinger of an argument about 20 mins in…
Ho Ho Ho.

In this week’s show, we try to answer the important questions, like “is Mark is still obsessed with Championship Manager 2001/02?” and “how *do* you pronounce the name, Lana?”. We’ve also had another trip to hospital (everything’s fine) and a visit to the Covid test centre (everything’s fine) so be prepared for a slightly random and tired pod. We’ve not had much sleep…
In TV, we praise the BBC’s Masterchef: The Professionals (7:20) and Elaine’s been watching The Vow (16:37) a Sky documentary into the cult NXIVM. In film, Mark reviews psychological thriller The Lighthouse (31:25) and we both sampled the delights of Armando Iannucci’s retelling of the Dickens classic The Personal History of David Copperfield (40:00).

Mark needs to talk to Elaine about something that is taking over his life, and in true Jeremy Kyle style, he’s doing it in front of an audience.
In TV we look at the first three episodes of season 2 of The Mandalorian (7:55). Then Elaine gives us her quick thoughts on Season 4 of The Crown (16:40) and Nordic Noir drama DNA (34:51). Check the time stamps to see if Elaine’s definition of ‘quick’ matches yours. Finally Mark has mostly been watching films this week, so gives his thoughts on Universal’s non Dark Universe version of The Invisible Man (41:20), Queen & Slim (44:25), and has his heart warmed by Irish drama Ordinary Love (49:10).
(And if you’re looking for an explanation on the outro music, check out our Date Fright review of The Lost Boys…)

Saved By The Bell is back and Mark cannot contain himself! We take an unexpected dive into Mad Mikkelsen’s career during our Fantastic Beasts 3 chat. We are loving CNN’s coverage of the US election. Jurassic World: Dominion has wrapped, so we take the opportunity to look back (in a rather haphazard way!) at the franchise. And, finally, even though we said we wouldn’t talk about cinema delays anymore we can’t help but discuss the rumour that Wonder Woman 1984 might be going to HBO Max…

We recorded this podcast on the eve of the American election. Will we know who the President of the USA is by the time this episode goes out?!
In this week’s show, we return briefly to HBO’s Lovecraft Country (5:15) and take a peek at Ep 1 of Sky Atlantic’s new murder mystery The Undoing (13:11). We’ve also watched Borat Subsequent Moviefilm on Amazon Prime (21:22) and Ben Wheatley’s Rebecca on Netflix (27:06).

Spooky scary - Part 1! It’s the first of our two Halloween specials.
This time, it's Mark’s turn to have some skele-fun. He’s picked John Carpenter’s science-fiction action horror They Live (1988). Get ready for alien lifeforms, “Red the Bum” from Back to the Future, and wrestling. Lots of wrestling. Find out how many pumpkins Elaine gives this cult classic. Will it be a graveyard smash?!

Strictly’s back! Discover Mark’s favourite dancer and try to understand (if you can) why he looks up spoilers every week (6:22). Mark reviews season 2 of The Boys (18:30). And we’ve watched some films: psychological thriller Saint Maud (24:28), Oscar-friendly biopic Judy (30:32), and true-life crime drama The Trial of the Chicago 7 (43:03).

In this week’s show, Soul’s gone to Disney Plus, Ghostbusters: Afterlife and Top Gun: Maverick aren’t going anywhere for a while, The Batman is filming in Liverpool, Mark’s annoyed he can’t see Fargo on telly, and we don’t know anything about Coming 2 America. Features references to Brookside and lots of sighing.
