Dr Strange in the Multiverse of Madness Spoiler Chat
Tuesday May 17, 2022
Tuesday May 17, 2022
A little late to the party, we finally get round to discussing our thoughts on Steve Strange (not that one) and his multi-versey-timey-wimey movie. Rejoice in Mark’s totally random references (Mer-Man from the He-Man cartoon anyone?) and enjoy Elaine’s defence of the film’s baddie. Be warned: spoilers from 16:37.
Enjoy!

Forget the format! We're turning our back on TV for one week only, because we've just seen too many movies (although please let us know if you want a Moon Knight podcast... We're really enjoying it!)
We start off talking about films we've seen that have recently hit UK streaming, with Elaine covering The Eyes of Tammy Faye (3:13), Mark dipping briefly into Drive My Car (8:05), and we both exchange thoughts on Spencer (12:29). Then we talk about NEW FILMS. Will Mark be the one person on earth to actually like Morbius (19:56)? (spoiler alert... no). We've both been to see Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore and, as is custom, haven't spoken to each other about it until we’re on air, so spoiler free thoughts from 26:53 and full on spoilers from 39:38.
And if you've got this far through the podcast notes, please send pictures of your pets to us on Twitter or Instagram @thehoneymoonpod.
Enjoy!

Imagine, if you will, a time before Will Smith slapped Chris Rock, and 'The Flash Enters Speed Force' was declared the 'Best Moment in the History of All Time Ever'? Well back in those halcyon days we recorded the first half of a podcast about Peacemaker (9:24) and - the Netflix event that literally no-one is talking about - Charlie Brooker's Cat Burglar (2:27). Then life got in the way, and we had to wait to wait a week for our movie reviews, first of all a pair of British films targeting the 'grey pound', The Duke (18:18) and The Phantom of the Open (25:49), then Disney+'s genre-bending thriller Fresh (31:12), and finally a catch up on Death on the Nile (39:10), just as it arrives on Disney+ in the UK.
One quick note, we might have angered the Gods during our podcast as we were hit with a massive hail-storm during the movie segment. Hope it adds a bit of atmosphere!
Enjoy!

DATE NIGHT: tick, tick...BOOM! (2021)
Sunday Mar 13, 2022
Sunday Mar 13, 2022
It's Elaine's pick for Date Night.
And there's really only one question to ask. Can we shoe-horn a reference to 90s sitcom The Upper Hand into our review of Lin-Manuel Miranda's musical drama? Yes, yes we can...
Enjoy!

Mark is feeling overwhelmed with the amount of good telly he needs to catch up with. So we did the only obvious thing, and recorded a podcast to remind him how much he hasn’t seen. He was happy, however, to wax lyrical (again) about Ted Lasso (4:45). And we’ve watched the first two episodes of mystery-horror Yellowjackets (13:11). Finally, for TV, we reflect on Series 1 of The Book of Boba Fett (22:13). We do touch on major spoilers, so please skip over our review if you haven’t seen this show yet.
In our film section (31:55), we were only meant to review Ken Branagh’s Belfast but ended up having a discussion about the Oscar and BAFTA nominations. As part of this, we unexpectedly had a chat about Liquorice Pizza and Mass. But don’t worry, we do get to Belfast eventually!
Enjoy!

Wednesday Feb 02, 2022
All great men have moustaches, and all great Date Nights feature a film requested by our magnificent pod-chum Mr Rob Daniel from The Movie Robcast.
Spoilers from pretty much straight after the trailer plays, so if you don’t want to know anything about Hot Rod best to leave us there, watch the film, and then come back…
Enjoy!

Scream (2022) Spoiler Chat

Sunday Jan 23, 2022
To butcher a phrase used by fairground ride operators up and down the country (as well as Geri Halliwell), Scream if you wanna go FIVEster.
We've been to see Scream, the confusingly-titled fifth film in the Scream franchise.
In this podcast we discuss our history with the franchise, then we deep dive into our review of this most meta of meta films out at the moment.
Would you like to play a game?

Happy 100th episode to us. To celebrate this major milestone, we’re catching up with some of the TV shows and movies we’ve watched over the last few weeks.
In TV, we reflect on ITV true-crime drama Four Lives (7:46), get bowled over by Sky Documentary's The Man Who Bought Cricket (18:14), put the lotion in the basket for Alibi’s Silence of the Lambs spin off Clarice (25:28), sing the Willy Fog theme tune (obvs) in our review of the Beeb’s Around the World in 80 Days (33:26), and share our thoughts on Disney’s The Book of Boba Fett (37:06).
In Movies, it’s over to Mark. He’s been to the cinema to see Matthew Vaughn’s spy action comedy prequel The King’s Man (45:13), and then he sat on the sofa and caught up with Jane Campion’s The Power of the Dog which is available now on Netflix (55:52). It’s a hard life.
As we say on the pod, what a pleasure and privilege it is to reach 100 episodes. We love doing this podcast – thanks so much for all your messages, encouragement, reviews, and good humour. Now, who has the number for the Royal Albert Hall…?
